UPDATED:March 14, 2005 The purpose of this Home Page is to locate other researchers of this JACKSON line, coordinate our efforts and share our results. I AM CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING IN A JACKSON "DNA" PROJECT This is a work in progress and is still subject to more research, additions and corrections. To get more information on this line, go to the links at the end of this page. They are: 1.Outline Descendent Tree of William Jackson. 2.Genealogy Report:Descendents of William Jackson. 3.Mystery Women (The Daughters of David Jackson). The preceding site is not up to date. Please contact me for current information) 4.Major General Joseph Alexander Cooper. The reason he is on this site is because he is the younger brother of Mahala Cooper. She is the Wife of Rev. William R. Jackson, my GG Grandfather and because we all want to have somebody inportant and/or famous in our family tree. 5.Was He a Rebel or a Yankee? (East Tennessee Document)The above William R. Jackson and Joseph Alexander Cooper are listed as are many other East Tennessee natives. William Jackson and his wife Barsheba are found in Washington Co, North Carolina as early as 1794.This is in what is now Carter County, Tennessee. William's will is dated 1806 in Carter Co, TN. His children are listed as JOHN, STEPHEN, JOSEPH and DAVID. These children were probably born between 1780 and 1800 in NC, VA, KY or TN.Their order of birth is probably as listed in his will and shown above. An additional two daughters have been identified by their descendants. They are Catherine and Rebecca.(NOTE:Rebecca and her brother David married siblings of the Low/Lowe family)The birthplaces of William and his wife Barsheba are not known yet. William was probably married at least once before and had other children that have not been identified. His wife Barsheba's surname is not known yet.(Please researchers, I need help on this) Their son DAVID is my GGG Grandfather, born between 1780 and 1790.I have been researching him and his descendants since 1987 and have an extensive database of them as a result. He named one of his daughters after his mother, that is; BARSHEBA. He, with his wife and children plus his sister CATHERINE and her family were living in Campbell County, Tennessee by 1830, possibly as early as 1823. The information that I show on the descendants of CATHERINE Jackson and her Husband, William Heatherly, is from the book "Heatherlys and Related Families", by Nadine Heatherly Stephens of Clinton, Tennessee. I have developed no information on the other children of William Jackson and his wife Barsheba, that is; JOHN, STEPHEN and JOSEPH Jackson.Anyone that has researched them, please contact me. GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF INTEREST:Campbell, Carter, Anderson and Morgan Counties of East Tennessee. It is possible that this line goes back thru NC, VA, NJ, NY to England in the early 1600s. NOTICE:I am also researching these surnames:RODGERS, HAMMACK, JUSTICE, COOPER, LOW/LOWE, HIGHTOWER, TANNER, STONECIPHER, HARRELL, plus others.REMEMBER, most names, including these, have more then one form of spelling, so check them all. The descendants of William and Barsheba are many and scattered.Information can only be developed by hard work and sharing information. Please notify me with any information that you have or of any errors that I have made so that corrections can be made.DNA may be the answer!!!!! ------------------------"KEEP ON DIGGING"------------------------
