This is a photo of one of my great-great grandmothers, Mary E. Hewett.She was born August 2, 1855, and married Daniel T. Long on September 10, 1870.She had 12 children altogether, but the first four died within 2 weeks of each other in December, 1879, of diptheria.She died July 19, 1909.One of her daughters was Annie Demaris Long, who was Nova Pearl Milliken's mother.Thanks to cousin Gary Ludlum for the photo. - James Wessel Stanley (73 KB)

This is a roster of the 20th NC Regiment, Company G.My great-great-grandfather, John D. Stanley, was a member of this regiment, as was his brother, Asa Stanley, and his brother-in-law, Abel K. Hewett.The 20th NC Regiment was organized at Fort Johnston (Smithville), Brunswick Co. on June 18, 1861.Company G was enlisted on May 25, 1861 and was mustered into service as part of the 20th Regiment on June 19, 1861.Most of the men were from Brunswick County.The 20th NC Regiment was part of the Army of Northern Virginia, and participated in several well-known battles, such as the Seven Days' Battle,Sharpsburg (Antietam), Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. - Last Will and Testament of James C.
