Additional Biographical Information
The 67th North Carolina Infantry was essentially a "home guard" unit. They participated in defense of some of the inland cities as the Yankee forces penetrated into the State. In 1865, they were one of the units which fought at the Battle of Wyse Forks, near Kinston. They ended the war with Johnston's Army, near Durham, North Carolina. Durant's family stories have more to do with hiding food and livestock from rapacious carpetbaggers after the war than with any actions in which he participated with the 67th.
