Additional Biographical Information

Byrd Tyler Daniel, Sr. was in the 6th Virginia Cavalry B Company, under Capt. John Shac Green's Company (The Old Guard) during the Civil War. He was captured August 17, 1863 at Waterloo, Virginia and taken prisoner while on assignment to procure horses. He was committed to the Old Capital Prison, Washington D.C. on August 19, 1863 where he was forced to take an Oath of Allegiance to the Union Army. Upon release he rejoined the CSA and remained until the end of the war.
