Additional Biographical Information
It is said in our family that John Davis Nicholson, was part of the delaying action to allow Nathan Bedford Forest's Calvary to escape. His name is listed in the book at Fort Donelson as a participant in the Defense of Fort Donolson. A cousin Ben Stack has more information than I do. He was in reinactments at one time. My Great-great etc. Grandfather was captured at Fort Donolson and taken to Cairo, Illinois. He had to sign a pledge not to fight any more if he was leased. He was released and returned home. I need more information. What I would really like to have is a picture of my great---grandfather's regiment. and if possible more information about his regiment.
