After you create your home page you can add a report from your Family File. You can choose to display any amount of information and it can be in one of three formats: Outline Descendant tree, Columnar report (such as the Custom or Kinship Report), or Genealogy report. For example, you can choose to display a simple Outline Descendant tree showing only your immediate family or you can choose to display something as elaborate as a multiple-column custom report showing information about all of the individuals in your Family File.
To add a report from your Family File to your home page:
We recommend that you focus on the content of your report more than the formatting. The format of your report may look very different on the Internet than it does within Family Tree Maker. This is because the HTML language used to display information on the Internet has limited formatting capabilities. Some Family Tree Maker formatting options, like colors and borders, may not transfer to the Internet at all.
Note: If you're using Family Tree Maker version 3.4 or 4.0, you don't have an Internet menu. From the File menu, select Publish Report on the Internet.
Family Tree Maker displays a dialog box reminding you to connect to the Internet before uploading your Family Tree.
Family Tree Maker displays the Publish Report on the Internet dialog box.
Family Tree Maker displays a progress meter while the report is being copied to your home page. As the transfer is beginning, Family Tree Maker also displays a dialog box asking whether you want to contribute your Family File to the World Family Tree Project.
Note: Visit the World Family Tree Web site for more information on contributing to the World Family Tree Project.
Family Tree Maker continues transferring your report to your home page and displays a confirmation dialog box when the transfer is complete.
Don't forget to close your Internet connection when you're done exploring the Internet. Depending on your setup, you may need to close both your browser and the connection to your Internet Service Provider.
