Additional Biographical Information
Though Edgar M Bly lived in Potter County, Pa,, he signed for duty in Wellsville, N.Y. with the 64th NY Volunteers. He served in the Seven Days Campaign and was wounded three times. His regiment w as quite active at Gaines Mills. If he had not been in the hospital, he would have served in the great battle of Antietam that following September.
The 64th went on to serve at Chancellorsville, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and others, with distinction.
