John Alewine (son of Michael Alewine and Mary Risinger) was born 1762, and died Bet. 1809 - 1810.

John is the only Alewine to have served in the military during the American Revolution.

Soon after John's death, his widow, Catherine, and two sons, John and George moved to Lexington Co. The oldest son, David, and the younger sons, Elijah, Daniel and Reubin, moved to Jasper Co., GA. These were the first Alewines known to have moved away from Newberry Co.
