Almost all the Alewines and others living in the Dutch Fork were farmers. Two exceptions were Joseph and his brother Eli, who were millers. Sometime between 1840 and 1850, they moved to Greenville Co., SC. After Joseph's death 2/25/1856, his son George continued to operate the milling business.
