| When I started to work on the Aarreberg Family Tree a few years ago, I had no idea that it was going to grow into such a large project, not only did I do the Aarreberg's I also have done the Simonsen, Bergeland, Lee and Carlton families. The last two being my wife's families. There was no way that I could have done any of this without the help of all our families sending me information. I thank all of you for that. The name Aarreberg comes from the name of the farm that Ole Olsen move his family to in the year 1787, it was located in the area of Gjesdal Norway.Part of it is still there. When Ole sold the farm in 1801, two of the seven children took the name Aarreberg and moved to Stavanger Norway, the rest of the family moved to the new farm and took the name of that farm. I was able to get all this from a cousin (Odd Aarreberg) in Stavanger Norway that I found with the help of Family Tree Maker. The Aarreberg family starts in 1563 with Villam Vilhjelm Born in 1563 in Kyllingstad Norway. Remember in those day's last names changed all the time. |
