Newly searching for my father's side of the family. Originally came from Leicestershire England and settled first in Quebec and then in Galt Ontario Canada. Grandpa was John William Clarke born 1870 and married Martha Bowler, also born 1870. Both were born in England. They came to Canad with their 4 girls. Carrie, Minnie Edith and Florence. Another daughter, Elsie, was born in Quebec and died before she was 1 yrs old. My father was adopted by the family when he was 4 months old when they lived in Galt Ontario, Canada, in 1923. He is now in his 70's and his memory is failing. He does not remember the dates his siblings were born but remembers their spouses. Edith married Les Norman Florence married Fred Fisher Minnie married ---- Tomkinson and had a daughter Bernice. Minnie died at age 33. Carrie married Thomas Lewis, who was said to have been cremated and had his ashes spread over the racetrack. All my dad's siblings were natural born, he was adopted. They were all adults when he was born. We have been unable to find out anything about his adoption. |
