Palmers of Hawkins Co., TN & Abbotts of Pope Co., IL

My research contains my maternal ancestors William Amos Palmer born 1849 and his wife Amanda Jane Lawson b.1861 both born in Hawkins Co., TN. His parents were Moses Bradshaw b. 1796-1889. and Mary "Polly" Palmer/Parmer. She was born to Malachi Parmer/Branham and Lucinda Amos of Patrick Co., VA. Spencer B. Lawson 1825-1865 was the father of Amanda Jane Lawson. Spencer served in the Mexican War and was captured on the streets of Rogersville, TN in 1863 by Confederates. He died, 1865, in a Military Hospital in Anapolis, MD.

The Abbotts and Bakers of Pope Co., IL were my paternal ancestors. Wilson Abbott lived in Granville, NC in 1820 and in Bedford Co., TN in 1833. Isaac Newton Baker married Martha Abbott daughter of Wilson Abbott in 1846.


My wife is a descendant of Jarvis Smith and Polly Reed who resided in Orange County, IN in 1841. They had a son, Joseph A Smith b.1841 d.1922 in Cosby, MO. She is also a descendant of Jacob Langley d. 1913 in WA and Mary Jones d. 1918 in WA. She is also looking for on John Reed Mathews b. 1874 in Moline, IL d.1961 in Helena, MT. He married Anna Teresa Lohse b.1885 in Moline, IL. Anna's parents were Jacob Lohse, b. 11-28-1836 in Germany and Paulina Latozke, b. 12-17-1854 in Germany. both died in Davenport, IA.
