From the June 13, 1984 issue of The Monte Vista Journal: Guy Wayne Stacy, 71, died at his home on Park Avenue in Monte Vista Friday, June 8. Retired from the Rio Grande County Road Department, he worked as a gardener for many homes in Monte Vista. He was born July 24, 1912 at Tolar, Texas, to William and Gertrude Stacy. He had lived in Monte Vista since 1935. Mr. Stacy is survived by his mother Gertrude Mathias of Monte Vista; two daughters, Bessie Jean Wallendorff of Alamosa and Phyllis Tharp of Houston, Texas; and a brother, John Stacy of Magalia, Calif Also surviving are three sisters, LaVern Smith of Tulsa, Okla, Fay McBride of Chloride, N.M. and Rae Bulson of Trinidad, Colorado; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Pinkerton. Services were conducted Tuesday morning by Pastor Floyd Davis at Chambers and Sharp Memorial Chapel, Joyce Holland, organist, accompanied Sam Holland, who sang, "God Will Take Care of You" and "The Lord's Prayer' Burial was in the Monte Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hendricks Leonard Jr., Orville Bechtel, Charles Burd, William Lee Howard, Dean Prentice and Gary Burd. Honorary pallbearers included Glen Gates, Herb Skeff and Paul Hall
