* Abel's and Utt's and bears oh my!*

Updated July 17, 2005

My mother (Velma Jean Utt/Abel) started the family tree thing when she was a freshman in high school. I started helping computerize the tree and assist here and there in the mid 80's. She's done all the work, I just post it!

Her line is Utt/Bolin. Dad's line is Abel/Hillis. Major questions abound. My biggest is the front of my line.

Francis Abel c.1758(possibly a British soldier in the American Revolutionay War) married Isabel (as we have her) O'Connor, a daughter of wealth and title from Ireland. We have them in Pennsylvania VERY early 1800's with kids.

The family story is that she was of the royal House of O'Connor of Ireland. Around 1910 or there abouts a James Waldrip, cousin to my line, filed an afidavit stating he was the oldest living heir of Isabel, and due to inherit the family castle. He could not pay the taxes due, and it reverted back to the state is the story we are told.

We have no proof of her family heritage, the courthouse with Waldrip's papers burnt down 50 years ago. We don't know which county for sure or location she came from. Names pop up from Isabel to Phoebe for her. Maybe Elizabeth, as the Isabel could be a shortened version. Basically, we don't know!

Anybody with info on Francis Abel and or Isabel O'Connor in the late 1700's either in Ireland, England, or USA, please let me know! There has to be an answer!
