DAM REINHARDT LOUIS BREHM:
When a young man, Louis worked as a hired man.
Louis served his nation in the U. S. Army during WWI.
He married Elsie Ann Strellner on December 22, 1926. She was a school teacher.
After they married they lived on a farm southwest of Garrison, which they farmed. Here they did all their work with horses. Louis loved horses and still worked on harness up till the time of his death. Later they did have electricity when the REA went through; also they progressed to modern machinery - like a corn picker and a tractor.
In the winter when the roads were closed Louis would take his light team and bobsled to Garrison, and would get the mail and supplies for all his neighbors.
In 1946 they purchased the Edith R. Bergen estate farm east of Shellsburg. In their grove you could still see the old stagecoach road used in the olden days for traveling from Cedar Rapids to Waterloo. In the spring mushrooms could be piced and enjoyed from the grove.
In 1960 they purchased ground in Shellsburg. After drilling a well, they built a three bedroom home which they moved into from the country.

His funeral was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg with Rev. Bertrand Hinrichs officiating. Interment at St. John Cemetery in Newhall, Iowa.
