Welcome to the Edward Adams Family Home Page. My research started in May 1973 after my grandfather, Benjamin Stewart, died and we found a letter in which he wrote about himself, his parents, and his grandparents. Included in this letter was the information that his father was born in 1856 on Riffle Pont Plantation, Concordia Parish, Louisiana "in slavery time". I began my search for this plantation. I stopped my research in 1976 after hitting a brick wall. I decided to start researching again in 1993 after my daughter Julie asked me questions about our family's history and gave me information that some of the research could be done online. In 1993, I found the name of the plantation to be Rifle Point Plantation.

On my ADAMS side, I am researching my great grandparents Mingo ADAMS b. abt 1833, Arkansas or Mississippi and Rachel NEWELL b. abt 1841 or 1843, Mississippi, or may have been brought from Canada. I am doing much of my research in Copiah, Hinds, Jefferson, Lawrence, and Lincoln County areas of Mississippi.

On my STEWART side, I am researching my great great grandparents Jacob STEWART b. 1832 Natchez, Mississippi and Margaret LIGHTFOOT b. abt 1832 Natchez, Mississippi; Simon GAILLARD b. abt. 1807 or 1812 Natchez, Mississippi and Hannah GRAY b. 1820 Virginia; and my great grandparents Perry STEWART b. 1856 Concordia Parish, Louisiana and Louisa GAILLARD b. 1855 Natchez, Mississippi. I am doing much of my research in Concordia, East Carroll, Madison, and Tensas Parishes of Louisiana and Adams, Jefferson, Scott, and Wilkinson Counties of Mississippi.
