1.  SIMON2 GAILLARD  (FATHER1) was born abt 1807 in Natchez, Adams County., Mississippi, and died Aft. 1880.  He married HANNAH GRAY.  She was born abt. 1820 in Virginia, and died Aft. 1880.

 

Notes for SIMON GAILLARD:

May have been slave on Gaillard Plantation, Carroll Parish, Louisiana now East Carroll Parish.  Gaillard Plantation was owned by Thomas Benjamin Gaillard and his sister, SAC (Sinah Ann Caroline) Gaillard Foster. 

 

Thomas married to Mary Martha Foster.  Sinah married Dr. James Foster of Hermitage Plantation, Adams County, Mississippi.

The 1880 Census does not list a place of birth for Hannah Gray's father.  It indicates that Hannah Gray's mother was born in Mississippi.  Hannah Gaillard's maiden name is Gray.  It is possibly that Hannah Gray is the daughter of Anna or Rachel.  Both were born in Mississippi.  Louisa was also born in Mississippi.

Benjamin Stewart was born in Scott, Mississippi well after the Civil War.  It is possible that the family moved there to be near family members.

On this place are 70 negro cabins 19 X 23 feet

There are 271 negroes from 100 years down to 1 month which will give about 4 negroes to each cabin.

 

I looked at the ages of the slaves.  

There are 5 males 4 years old and 4 males 3 years old (One could be Perry)

There are 8 females 20 years old and 2 females 22 years old (Could one be Margaret Lightfoot?)

There are 8 males 20 years old; 1 male 21 years old; and  7 males (1 mulatto) 22 years old

(Could one be Simon?  Simon may have been from another plantation)
