Notes for Lovic Erastus Adams: Lovic was a tall dignified man of the old school and South, with practically no sense of humor, very firm and stern, but never raised his voice. He smoked both cigars and pipes, but prefered the pipe. His favorite tobaco was Mixture 79. During the summer he always dressed in white linen suits and hats. Loved to hunt with his two dogs. He loved to garden and planted all types of flowers, but his pride and joy were his roses. He also had a grape arbor and grew pecan trees, ferns and pussy willows. Had the distinction of being the youngest sheriff of Cleburne County at 17. Upon moving to Birmingham, Alabama he became a Claims Agent for the Southern Railroad. Upon retirement from the railroad he joined his brother Vernon Adams in the coal buisness Adams Coal Company.
