Nov 13, 2007 Key Updates in the past 5 months

John Adlam - Have reflected his birth year as 1803, but don't have recorded confirmation. On a Ontario Durham Rd Register that was done between 1848-51, he was listed as being 45, his sons, Robert as 22, George as 15, Eliz as 13, Mary Jane as 11, Susan 9, Hannah as 5, and John as 1. The register reflects the Entry date as 1845 Sept 25. But since it is a typed record from a hand written record, the Entry year was incorrectly transposed. We have to assume that it was most likely 1848, and are assuming he would have been born in 1803. So the assumption on John's birth year is the best at this time. He could have been born between 1802 and 1810.

John had a brother, a first son or even could be a nephew, named Robert, who was born in Wiltshire, England.

John and his family lived in Kingston and then Nelson County (Town of Burlington today) before moving to Grey County, Ontario. The Adlams and the Baileys also lived in Nelson Twp. first before they came to Grey County. They were best of friends, and considered themselves the "elite" of the area, and even bought cemetery plots near each other where they are buried in Durham Cemetery. Grey County.
