Notes for Kenneth Leroy Houghton: OBIT-GRANT COUNTY HERALD-Wed May 27, 1981
Kenneth L. Houghton, 70, of Route 2, Sauk City, formerly of the Lancaster area, died Wednesday, May 20, 1981, in Sauk City of an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Houghton was born March 29, 1911, in Beetown, WI, son of the late George and Luella (Clinger) Houghton. He was brother to Mrs. Stella (Joe) Foster, Lancaster; Mrs. Birdie (Archie) Bass, Beetown; and Mr. Louis (Helena) Houghton, Beetown. He was married to the former Florence Houghton on July 15, 1935, in Galena, IL, by D.S. Hunkins, Justice of the Peace.
Mr. Houghton and his family owned and operated the cheese factory in Ellenboro near Lancaster for many years, prior to moving to Sauk City in 1953. He had been employed at the Badger Ordinance Works and also at the Firehouse Restaurant before his retirement.
Services were held in 2:00pm, Saturday, May 23, at the Harris and Wepking Funeral Home in Lancaster, where friends and relatives called from 11:00am Saturday until time of service. The Rev Dr Laurence Goebel, pastor of Lancaster Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Cassville Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Cohoe; a son, Larry (Delores) of Cassville; two daughters, Karen (Robert) Adrian of Norfolk, Nebraska, and June (Roger) Loomis of Baraboo; 9 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Stella Foster of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George and Louella (Clinger) Houghton; his sister, Mrs. Birdie Bass, and his brother Mr. Louis Houghton, both formerly of Beetown.
