 Includes NotesMarriage Notes for Aaron Houghton and Eleanor Sumner:
The 1860 Census shows Aaron and "Ellen" living in Beetown Township. His occupation is listed as "farming":
Children listed are:
Mary, age 18, born in England; although living at home she is also listed under occupation as "domestic"; apparently she was a "hired girl" for one of the neighbors;
Alice J, age 14, born in Wisconsin Territory (Wisconsin statehood occured in 1848);
Margaret, age 11;
William E, age 9; and
Bethena, age 7

The 1870 Census did not contain a lot of extra information. Aaron and Ellen and four of the above children: (intersting to compare the ages, which should be about 10 year older, but show some differences)
Mary, age 29;
Maggie, age 23;
William, age 21; and
Bethena, age 16.
Also, listed with this household is Mary Boil (penmanship not precise), age 3. The relationship to Aaron is not listed. More research will need to be done.

The 1880 Census shows Aaron and "Ellen" living in Beetown Township and his occupation is listed as "farmining". Also listed living at home daughter Mary, 38 years of age, all born in England, and a grandson Wilbert Short, age 2. Wilbert's parentage is not listed, only his "grandparentage".

Aaron would pass away within two years of this census, in 1882. The 1890 Wisconsin census is not available on-line, so I am not sure if Ellen and Mary are living by themselves in the homestead or if, after Aaron's death, they moved in with Edward or one of the daughters.

Also as of this entry, I am not aware of what became of Mary Boil or Wilbert Short.
