JOHN BENJAMIN⁷ DENT (JOHN BREWER⁶, BENJAMIN⁵, JOHN⁴, JOHN³, GEORGE², PETER¹)¹ was born 10 July 1786 in Dents Inheritance, Charles County MD, and died 20 September 1841 in Walnut Hill, Charles County MD ². He married CATHERINE PETRIE Abt. 12 September 1810 in Wayne County Kentucky ^3,⁴. She was born 16 July 1791 in North Carolina ^5,⁶, and died 20 September 1838 in Walnut Hill, Charles County MD ^7,⁸.

While it's certainly puzzling what John Benjamin Dent was doing out in
Kentucky in 1810, it's clear that this is your man. Maybe this will provide a
clue how to find Catherine's parents, since it's obvious that trying to find
them in Maryland is sure to be a complete dead end.

John Rhymes' website also contains a link to my website on the descendants of
Capt John Dent (which would include your John Benjamin Dent). If you take a
look at the info I've already prepared on John Benjamin's family (found on the
lineage chart for Benjamin Dent son of John), you'll find info on some of his
children that you don't presently have on your website. (You'll also see that
I have an incorrect middle name for John Francis Dent, which I'll correct
shortly.) I found cemetery records in the Prince George's Co "Stones and
Bones" book on Rosanna L. Dent ("Rose", who married William Belt Townshend),
and on Valeria C. J. Dent ("Lelie", who married Francis Osmond St. Clair).
I've also found what became of son Alexander Covington Dent (born c1825). He
went down to Jefferson Co MS to be overseer for George R. Dent, son of
Zachariah Dent (elder brother of John Brewer Dent); while still in Jefferson
Co in 1861 he married Ann Eliza Brown. Interestingly, one of his children
Frank came back to Maryland---I found his cemetery record as well in the
Prince George's Co "Stones and Bones" book.
