| Sanskriti - Our Family Mission and Culture To love each other...To help each other... To believe in each other... To seek to learn, for learning is key to living... To become our best selves... To wisely use our time, talents, and resources... To worship together... Forever. This work on our family history is being compiled by Ashwini & Vandana Aggarwal. We have today over 300 family members on the record spanning 9 generations into early 18th century. It has been an impressive, moving experience as we travelled thru time to get an insight into some of our ancesotors' lives. We have been borne of the blood of freedom fighters like Lala Lajpat Rai - the Lion of Punjab, who roared that 'every blow on my body is a nail in the coffin of the British Empire'. We have barristers, village Patwaris, school teachers, College Professors, Doctors, Industrialists, Plantation owners, Chartered Accountants, Government Officers and Corporate Managers. We have also mixed with other races and casts - our family's millenium baby is from an inter-caste marriage, we have inter-racial marriage on record between Anand Mohan Gupta and Rose Britten in the 1930s and we have had our first internet marriage at the turn of the millenium in 1999... As we collect and collate the family history and archives, it is obvious that ours has been a history of a family that has worked hard, patiently and affectionately to grow from humble beginnings, without racial/ caste prejudice and clearly contributing to the environment and world that we have lived in. Even as our family branches out across the globe, we hope that this work unites us - and also that our children can access the best of experience and expertise in the family, getting an unfair advantage in a competitive world. We also hope that this work builds up the family medical history so that as the medical sciences advance someday this effort results in some of our children in a future generation getting a gift of additional years to their lives. This work is a tribute to our ancestors - and , we hope, a proud legacy to our children - that they know of their roots, our family values and thrive on the strength of the collective family in a competitive world. We invite all our peer family mates to help build this work and share anecdotal history, family tree data and records to create this legacy for our generations to come.
