Honeymoon Ship of Mr & Mrs Thomas Joyce-April 1890

Honeymoon Ship of Mr & Mrs Thomas Joyce-April 1890
Scene aboard SS Cephalonia(Cunard Line) was painted by Sears Gallagher (of Lynn,MA) in 1895.This ship, on which my grandparents set sail from Liverpool, after their marriage in Leicester, on April 7,1890, arrived in Boston on April 28,1890, accompanied by his sister, Alice Joyce (age 19). It s/b noted that the ship's manifest indicated they all intended a "protracted sojourne" in the US. Uncle Arthur K.Joyce was then born Feb 1,1891 in Lynn,MA. When they all actually returned to England is unknown to me, except to note, they were not listed in the UK April 1891 Census, but Uncle William A. Joyce was born in Leicester, on Oct 4, 1892. It is also interesting to note that grandpa may have made a trip to Boston, a year earlier on the same ship, arriving alone, on May 13 1889. The Celphalonia, a 5,517 ton ship was built in 1882. She had accomodations for 200-1st and 1500-3rd class passengers and a length of 430ft, a beam of 46ft, one funnel, 3 masts and a speed of 14 knots. Intentionally sunk in 1904(North Atlantic Seaway by N R P Bonsor, vol.1, p.153).
