When Head of Dept saw tthat he accepted him, and so happily installed. In uniersity academic performance miserable. Got into good life -playing tennis , "Adda"-ambition at that stage was to get teh CSS exams (Central Superior Service) which only requird a pass degree. So even before results were out sat for teh exam and passed both in written and viva - In viva the highest mark in E pakistan and second highest mark in Pakistan.Iqbal Reza (later to become undersecretary General UN under Kofi Annan) got teh highest mark. At that time only 6 taken from teh foreign service. 4 from West P and 2 from E Pak (Bari and Papa). Even then thee was discriniation. though it was baseson results.
