Martha Reynolds (daughter of Robert Reynolds) was born April 26, 1798 in Ireland47, and died September 14, 1873 in West Orange, NJ. She married Thomas Vincent on August 20, 1816 in Broome County, NY.

 Includes NotesNotes for Martha Reynolds:
Buried with her husband, Thomas in the Pleasantdale Cemetery, West Orange. Near intersection of Eagle Rock Ave. and Pleasant Valley Way. May have been members of the Presbyterian Church located on the corner about two blocks from the cemetery.

According to son George's biography in "Geneological and Memorial History of the State of NJ", Martha and Thomas Vincent had 13 children.

Per Census of NJ, daughter Hannah, born in 1835 is eldest child listed of five children born when mother was 38. Where are other eight of 13? Youngest of five, Stephen was four when mother is listed as age 53, therefore born when she was 49. Later children seem unlikely. If other children are older than Hannah were they left behind in England or elsewhere? Seems likely Thomas would have had children prior to age 44.

Cemetery stone reads birth as April 26, 1798, according to 1850 census Martha was 53 and so would have been born in 1797. Death on stone is Sept. 14, 1873.

Buried in front of Thomas and Martha are 1) Margaret Reynolds wife of Edward ____, 2) Robert Reynolds with reference to Ireland. (can not read stone dates). Who are these Reynolds? How related to Martha? Perhaps a sister and brother or brothers?

In 1860 census, Marth is listed as head of household living on PVW, WO, NJ. She is a. 65 (s/b 63?), a farmer worth 20,000, born in Ireland. Living with her:
Stephen a. 14, born in NJ, a student
Daniel Daly, a 35, farm laborer
They live 2 families/ houses down from Moses Condit.

In 1870 census, Martha is widow, foreign born, Ireland, a. 73.

Must have had a son who died young. In 1840 census had a son between 2 - 5 years of age. who does not show in 1850 census. Had 2 daughters in same census between 15-20 years. One is probably Margaret (later marries Jonathan DeCamp)
