* The Akins Home Page*

Updated September 6, 2000

I am researching the AKINS family from Lamar County, AL. John M. AKINS when 20 years old appears in the 1870 Sanford Co. AL census, page 5 Dwelling number 41, living with Robet Mize's family working on his farm, but I don't know where he was before that. He married Jane BLALOCK 23 August 1874 in Sanford Co., AL (Became Lamar County 1877). Their children were Fannie Arizine; Bettie Malinda; James W. "Jim"; Mary Ella and Nancy Della - twins; Bettie Elisabeth; Emily C.; my grandfather, Benjamin Henry; and Rhoda Jane "Rhody".
I would like to find out what John M. Akins parents names were. I was told one time that he had a sister, and that his sister and him were taken in by an AKINS family from an indian reservation.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
