Genealogy is a journey. It is winding and sometimes torturous, but always satisfying. Sometimes there are sidetracks and sometimes course corrections, but it always leads you back to who you are and who it was that made you who you are. When I tell people that I do genealogy they often ask "how does that work" I tell them, then they say, "That is too much work", but I tell them that it is the most satisfying, yet aggrevating task you will ever undertake. And in the end, the most valuable thing that you can pass along to your children, grandchildren, and successive generations, beyond the material things you may leave behind, is the knowledge of those ancestors that came before them. It will help them connect to the world around them and the history of thier family intertwined with events in U.S. and/or World History.

So, if you are thinking of starting a collection hobby, then there is nothing better, and cheaper than collecting "Dead Relatives" as one person said to me when I told them what I do.
