My search started with my Fathers family, but like a tree, has branched out. I have managed to find 3 generations before my Dad, Garnett WEIR. I'm now trying to find information about William WEIR, who was born in 1769 in Lanakrshire, Scotland. Williams family (wife Mary LEWERS and 8 children) lived on Woodyette Farm which was part of the Stonebyer Estate, in the 1821 census. William died at Linmill (this was a flax mill on the Clyde River Falls, on the backside of Stonebyer property). As to how he died, I wonder if it was an accident on the falls, since I have not found a grave for him. Mary and all 8 of her children and their families left for Canada in 1833 and settled in the Scarborough area outside of Toranto.

I have received information from a "cousin" in Mississippi who has confirmed finding in his Family Bible a hand written note that "second cousin William Weir married Mary Lewers 19, April 1794". This branch of the family can trace themselves back to James Robert WEIR b. 1500 of Blackwood, Scotland (this is another estate belonging to the WEIR/VERE Clan like Stonebyer). I'm trying to connect the dots between our two families- find the link to second cousins , which will give me Williams Parents.
