| This is a home page for the descendants of Emerson Ray Allen and Lillie Mabel McIntyre of Bairdford, Pennsylvania. This is a home page also for the descendants of August Peter Claus and Leona Emma Biernesser of Allison Park, Pennsylvania. We are currently researching the surname ALLEN in the early 1700s in Suffield, CT, in late 1700s in New Marlborough, MA, in early 1800s in Braceville, Ohio, in late 1800s in Tidioute, PA. A continuing problem was to find more facts about an elusive ancestor, Jonathan Allen. Bathsheba Fuller, daughter of Joseph Fuller and Bathsheba Hanchett Fuller of Suffield, CT, had a son in 1735, named Jonathan ( Fuller ) Allen, with the father reported to be "Jonathan Allen". We now believe this elusive hit-and-run father to be a grandson of Edward Allen, the weaver, one of the founders of Suffield. We just can't decide which of Edward's several sons is our Jonathan Allen's father. One project for 1998 was to locate all the unidentified members of the extended BERNESSER / BIERNESSER / BIRNESSER family in America, and to contact all the current descendants of the two brothers, Anton BIRNESSER and Johannes BIRNESSER of Rheinmunster-Sollingen, Baden, Germany. Anton came to Pine Creek, Allegheny County and married Philomena STEHLE ( or Staley ) in 1860. Johannes married Louisa HUCK in Germany and brought his young family to Sharpsburg, PA in 1873. A notebook listing data on over 1000 "Bernesser - Biernesser - Birnesser Cousins" was published and distributed. A second project for 1998 was to trace the descendants of Peter Claus & Theresa Miller ( or Muller ), who left Alsace, France and settled in Indiana Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in 1839. We are currently trying to find proof that they came from the tiny village of Littenheim, in the Saverne District of Bas Rhin in Alsace. Again, a notebook of results to date was published and distributed. We have recently found the ship's passenger list for Nicholas Rub and Katherine Kress from Wallroth, in the Schluchtern district of Hessen, Germany ( 60 kilometers northeast of Frankfurt am Main, on the Fulda Highway ), so now we know both their surnames and birthplaces. One current problem is to track down Sarah LAWRENCE, youngest of the 22 children of Daniel LAWRENCE of Groton, Mass. and sister of Capt. Isaac LAWRENCE of Canaan, CT, and to determine if she is the long-sought wife of our Jonathan ALLEN who died in New Marlborough, Mass. in January 1779 Allen Reunion Update: Over 50 relatives and friends attended the 2002 annual assembly of the descendants of Emerson Ray Allen and Lillie Mabel McIntyre held at South Lake Tahoe, CA from July 29 to August 5. Contact Brother Charlie ( me ) for details. Photos from this year's reunion will be posted on our Geocities Web Site about December 1, 2002. Next year's reunion will be in the Mountain Time Zone, location to be decided in January 2003: Start date is the last Saturday in July; end date is the first Saturday in August. See you there!! Check out the BOOK area below, and let me know via email what you think of the format. We will be adding new pages of text every few months over the next year to enliven the dull genealogical data. Enjoy! In addition to the Family Links to public-access web sites given below, we maintain password-controlled web sites for ALLEN, BIERNESSER and CLAUS Families on www.MyFamily.com for family-members only. If you want to visit those sites, send an email to me ( Brother Charlie ) |
