17. My Immigrant ancestor. Settled in Newbury, MA in about 1640. He moved to Charlestown, MA about 1652. In 1665 he bought 60 acres near the boundary with Concord, MA in what was then called Watertown Farms (afterward called the town of Weston). In 1669 he purchased 200 acres more in Watertown Farms. In about 1673 he moved to Charlestown where he died on July 8, 1681. In 1677 he took oath that he was 76 years of age, which would have made him born in about 1601. At his death, he not only owned land in Watertown and Charlestown, but also in Sudbury and Haverhill. The latter came into his possession in 1673 in payment for a debt owed him by Thomas Davis. Walter Allen's occupation is variously given as farmer, planter, haberdasher and shopkeeper. In 1681, the inventory of his estate amounted to 3015 pounds sterling, which was a goodly sum in those days. His second marriage took place when he was 78 years of age!

Died (according to death certificate) of "Chronic Myocarditis" Note the spelling of the last name (McQueen) indicating that different members of the immigrant MacQueen family came to spell their surname differently from one another. Neil's brother Alexander (and all of Alexander's children) spelled it McQuinn. Neil and Alexander's father (Ewen) spelled it MacQueen throughout his life and even on his marriage certificate to Kate MacLeod on 11 August 1870, he spelled it as MacQueen. Ewen's son Neil (and all of Neil's children) spelled their surname as "McQueen".

Graduated from the University of Vermont and practiced medicine in Terryville, CT until 1892 when he became one of the pioneer settlers in Southern Pines, NC, and built the second house east of the Seaboard Railway. He practiced medicine in Southern Pines until his death which occurred during the night of the fire that wiped out the center of town. He rushed to ward patients in a hotel in the path of the fire, and after delivering his message, he dropped dead.
