Notes for W
ILLIAM W. HOLMAN:
Spent two hours going through pension file For William Holman Today and found several documents of use...
#1 Found Divorce papers filed against William By Wife Charity Holman . She was granted divorce due to William not showing up in Court. Papers filed in Posey County January 15, 1877
#2 Date of death changed found found rewcord of who buried him Thomas M. Ryan On April 18th, 1891
in attendance at his furneral besides his second wife Elizabeth were Issac Workman, Joseph T. Carmicheal and Thomas M. Ryan, according to pension files.
#3 Was injured in the Battle Of Marks Mill in Arkansas and taken to a POW to Camp Ford in Tyler, Texas. He spent 10 months in this prison. He contracted Scurvy while in the prison and suffered with it till his death . Statement From fellow soldier at battle says he saw him fall but they were making a hasty retreat and he couldn't go back for him.. William McCoy was the soldiers name. In his files he states he was hit in the head by a piece from a shell and couldn't get back up.. While in the camp recieved meager rations of Corn meal and sometimes Beef and lived in a very small Log structure..(Scurvy is caused by a lack of Vitamin C, The prison camp rarely had fruits or vegetables for the prisoners to eat.)
#4 His hired lawyer for most of his fight to recieve his pension for service was John D. Alexander.
#5 Also Have his Enlistment and Discharge papers for Civil War.

Changing name in this family tree for William Holman.. Any record I've ever found for him has listed his name as William W. Holman... Only places for other name was family bible and LDS records.. If I find more proof I will change it back.... This helps me with Family Tree research since most people looking for records will be looking for William rather than Elijah...
