Was ordained a deacon in the Hiwassee Union Baptist Church 3rd Sunday in April 1860. Was a m ason.
Death -- Maranda was either going to or returning from getting his corn milled and was bushwa cked at Boring Gap between Lost Creek and Ellis Creek by the Kirkland Bushwackers after the C ivil War. John Womac was also killed. Maranda's daughter, Mary, witnessed the murder and hitc hed up the wagon to retrieve his body.
