Jacob joined the Confederate Army of Tennessee Pvt H Company 3rd Lillards Mounted Infantry i n 1861 for one year, then re-enlisted for two more years. No record of discharge at Tennesse e State Archives in Nashville.
On 22 Jan 1865, Jacob Joined the Union Army as Pvt H Company 7th TN MI for one year. He wa s 33 years old, 5' 11" tall, blue eyes, light hair, fair complextion. He was given $100 signi ng bonus, a horse, and campage.
Martha Jane Boring is a twin with Jacob.
Killed Joseph Graves 10 Dec 1863. Split head with ax while chopping wood to build stick chim ney. Monroe County Circuit Court Case 608 Shows "Jacob C. Boren of Monroe Co., laborer, Indi cted for murder with an axe on 10 Dec 1863 of Joseph Graves." Indictment was in May 1866. Esc aped from Athens jail and fled the country.(to Texas).

Monroe Co Chancery Case #258 filed 1 Jan 1868 - Briant & Richmond vs Jacob C Boring & others . Jacob C Boring absconds, owes note to complainants of McMinn Co. Rhoda Smith, near age 79 i n 1868, recovered a judgement, through corruption & collusion,before her son Dennis Smith , a J.P. against Boring. Apr 1868, Deputy Sheriff A. Hawkins "delivered Copy of Rigginal Bill ". Eliza Catherine Lee is the daughter of Robert Eakin dec'd and Boring purchased her interes t. Mary E is wife of Boring. Boring was wanted for murder and was taken to the jail at Athen s but escaped. William Webb, 37 in 1868, is brother-in-law to Boring & deposes that Boring i s "hiding Out".

1868 Feb Jacob is in Cherokee Co., NC - See Monroe Co. Chancery Court Record #204 John Stilwe ll vs Jorden Carden filed 16 Mar 1867. Jacob deposes as witness.

1900 Census - Jacob C. Boring was still alive in Franklin Co., TX age 76.
