After lots of research, phone calls, letters, emails, visits to courthouses and the like, here is the JUST family as of 8/1/98. We were fortunate to have discovered a cousin who lives near Berne, Switzerland. He visited us in June 1998 and brought with him lots of new information on families back in Germany and in what is now Poland. Adele Just has been working tirelessly to uncover more family members among census records and other official sources. Members of other branches of the tree other than my own have chipped in with literally hundreds of other names. As of 8/1/98, there are about 1,000 names in the tree! Our goal is to identify and catalogue as many descendants of one MARTIN JUST, b. ca. 1770-1780 as possible. (Sounds like were doing fiendish biological experiments, doesn't it?) Hopefully we'll go back farther than that. In particular I am looking for more descendants with family names of ALBERT and SCHOAF who lived or live in the Owatonna,MN and Port Byron, IL areas. They are descendants of KAROLINE JUST, my grandfather's sister. If you think this kind of research is boring, consider this. I discovered that the woman who has sung alto with me in our church quartet for the past several years, BRENDA LOU FORTHUN RICHARDS, is related!! Such serendipitous things occur regularly when one delves into one's family. Let's keep in touch. Information you furnish will be greatly appreciated. I'll certainly return the favors!
