The A.V. Kennedy Child Care Center on Darling Ave., between Plant Ave and Alice Street, has a new coordinator- - Amy Jordan.
Mrs. Jordan has worked with the 3-year-olds at the center since it opened in 1999.
She has taken many classes and recieved training in child care at Okefenokee Technical College and Georgia Southern.
Ethel Blair, the center's former coordinator, has tranferred to the Ware County Head Start Center as a classroom teacher.
Mrs Jordan is a 1993 graduate of Waycross High School. She worked at the YMCA for three years while she was in high school.
She was born and raised in Waycross. She and her husband, Bill Jordan, Have a son, Spencer.
"I am excited that Mrs. Jordan has steeped up to this challenging roll."
said Clarence Billups, executive Director of concerted Services Inc. which operates the Kennedy Center.
In October The Kennedy Center recieved a grant from the Georgia Child Care Council to assist with a self-assessment process toward accreditation as a quality child care facility.
The Kennedy Center operates from 6 a.m. to 6p.m. and is licensed as a day car facility by the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
The center has security cameras in the rooms and provides individual attention to the children, made possible by a small ratio of children to staff.
Hot meals and snacks are served to the children. The rates are reasonable, the staff skilled and caring and drug-free.
