This research has taken years and years of hard work. I wish that I could say that I had done most of it , however, some members of my family kept meticulious records.Warren Ames was born abt. 1828, in Iowa. He married Martha Davenport and had at least 3 sons and one daughter. In 1860 he entered the Illinois Calvary and fought on the Union side. His sword has been handed down through the generations, but Warren Ames is the earliest ancestor we have been able to yet find. There was a family story that he was somehow related to Oakes Ames, however, no evidence has yet been found to support this theory. I have searched through many posts and have seen many of the same names over and over, but no Warren Ames. Any information you may have on him would be greatly appreciated.
growing up without a father had made me hungry for the knowledge of where I came from, through out my years of searching, my greatest reward has been finding my grandmother. Grams I love you. Thank you for giving me my roots....
