Excerpt from "Surname Travelute" from the Historical Research Center Ellis Island.
"Travelute is an anglicized rendering of the French family Travaillot which is classified as being of nickname origin. It is derived from the French word "travailleur", which means "to labor, to strain".... Documented variants of the surname Travaillot include Travailleur, Travaillieur, Travail.
One of the earliest references to this name or a variant is a record of one Maria Barbara Travaillot, the daughter of Charles Travaillot and Elizabeth Desboeuf, who was born in Belfort, Jaut-rhin, on the 19th of December 1789. Charles Travaillot (perhaps the same man or his son) was also a resident of Luneville, France in the year 1822.
Blazon of Arms: Sable, a chevron or, a chief argent, charged with three stars azure.
Translation: Sable (black) symbolizes the planet Saturn and denotes Honesty, Wisdom, Firmness and Obedience.
Crest: Three ostrich plumes, proper.
Origin: France."
