Introduction
This book is about Amors' of All Cannings who lived mainly in a village called All Cannings situated in the Pewsey Vale near the town of Devizes in the County of Wiltshire England.
My particular line of Amors' do not appear to have moved very far afield over the years, one or two individuals or families moved to neibouring villages of Stanton Saint Bernard or Allington during the early years but returning again to All Cannings in due course. This was no doubt due to the fact that most (men and women )were farm labourers and accomodation went with the job (tied cottages) and was expected to be taken up on commencement of employment. This made for frequent house changeing for many families over the years. A situation that has almost disappeared now. Around 1939 Thomas Albert Amor moved away, and I myself Gordon Peter Amor moved to Oxford in July 1968, neither returning to the village on a permanent basis.
