| My great Aunt Helen started keeping track of our family over 35 years ago. She publishes a book, created on a typewriter, every 5 years. She has kept track of name, address, birth/ death/ wedding/ divorce dates. I have entered 700+ people into Family Treemaker and am in the process of gathering other information from family members. I connected with the Shinners and will soon merge that into my file also. The family name is Gaffaney. Note the extra A. I am told that anyone with that extra A is related to me, as it was misspelled during immigration. I have only just begun collecting stories, so who knows?My Great Grandfather was Edward Gaffaney, born 1/16/1861 and my Great Grandmother was Ellen Elizabeth Shinners, born 4/5/1866. The family was settled in west central Minnesota around Villard (Alexandria is the closest name you'd recognize).
