Family names and their meanings.
André: Family name taken from a first name, derived from the Greek Andreas, A derivitive of the Aramaic name for The Apostle Andrew, Jesus Christ's first Apostle. Name means Manly.
Ladouceur: Not in use until 1720's as a family name. Often a " dit name" Name means sweetness and may pertain to someone having a sweet character.
Lalonde: Norse name meaning grove lundr meaning grove in Norman French. La Lundr topographical for someone coming from a grove area in Normandy.
Campeau: topographical also from Northern France. Champ meaning field peau meaning small. Small field, someone coming from such an area.
