I am a native of northern Minnesota of Scandinavian & Scotch Irish heritage. My mother's cousin researched the Gunderson branch of the family, so I decided to research the Armstrong (Scotch Irish) branch. Other surnames I've worked with are: Sebring, Hale, Chapman, and on the Scandinavian side: Locken, Johnson, & Nilsson. The Armstrongs emigrated from Ireland, settled in the Juniata Valley of PA in the 1700's; then moved on to Ontario (Yates) Co.,NY in 1795; to Sandusky Co., OH in 1830's; to Jonesville, MI in 1840's; & to Chippewa Co., MN in 1868. George Armstrong, 1757 - 1842, served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War. His wife was Elizabeth, I would like to find her maiden name. His daughter was Sarah who married Samuel Sherwood Chapman. She died on 2 Sept. 1878, probably in NY City. I would like to know where she & her husband were buried.Any exchange of information would be welcome.
