| According to the 1830 census of Davidson Co., TN, Lloyd was born between 1791-1800. The death certificate of his daughter, Susan Eliza, states that he was born in NC. Family history tells that he possibly lived in the general area of Raleigh and that when he was orphaned at an early age he went to live with his married brother. However, young Lloyd was not happy in that home and ran away. When he was returned to his brother, he was then apprenticed to a boot maker and remained with him until he came of age. Lloyd then moved to Davidson Co., TN, where he met Parmelia Ann Collinsworth. Parmelia's mother, Alice Thompson Collinsworth, gave permission for her to marry Lloyd, and the wedding was Aug. 28, 1823. They continued to live in Davidson, south of Nashville, and reared nine children. Lloyd died there in 1845 or 1846. He died intestate, but his estate was sold and the papers were recorded in Dec. 1846. So far no one has been able to find a record of Lloyd's parents' names, his brother's name, or that of the boot maker - or a record of the apprenticeship. We do not know if Lloyd had any other siblings.
