Farfar, Fredrik Anderson, came from Grådö, Hedemora, Sweden in 1889 and settled for awhile in White City, Kansas. There he married Amanda Othelia Becker who was born in Chicago, IL of Swedish parents from northern Småland. Fred's brother Anders Erik changed his name to Eric Hedeen when he emigrated from Sweden. He owned a farm west of Dwight, Morris Co., Kansas. He did not marry, but he did leave an amazing photograph collection of photographs from both Kansas and Sweden. Some of the unidentified photos are connected to this web site. IF anyone recognizes any of these people, please let me know!! Parishes from which Fred's ancestors came from include: Hedemora, Grytnäs, Folkärna, Garpenberg, Säter, St. Tuna, and Gagnef. Parishes from which Amanda's ancestors came from include: Linderås, Lommaryd, Väderstad, Ekeby, Säby, Rök, Bjälbo, Stenberga, Kråkshult, Ingatorp, Hjälmseryd, Fröjered, Ödeshög, Appuna, and Hogstad. I would like to share information with anyone who has any ancestors from these parishes! I would like to thank the following people who have contributed significant amounts of information to this project: Weimar Sjöstedt, Werna Sköld, Anna Mattsson, Kurt Steinrud, Christer Gustavsson, Hans Egeskog, Arne Karlsson, Einar Söderquist, Greg Jonsson, Phillip Johnson, Susie Simons, and John Zeno. Göte Liss has generously provided a file of ancestors and descendants of Jan Olsson (b 3 Jan 1749, Gagnef, SE). A portion of this file is reproduced on this site, as an outline descendant tree for Olaus Laurentii. Some information in this file was provided by Kenneth Gidewall. The majority of people in this file are from Gagnef. Göte includes house names with the given names, which were not included in my file. The family tree connected to my site is contains nearly 1500 people and will take awhile to download. Sweden is abbreviated with the current two digit country code of SE (SW being Switzerland). Dalarna and Kopparberg have been used for the same area of Sweden known as Dalarna.
