| I'm a descendant of Hope Howland. My 8th Great Grandfather was John Chipman. John Howland came to America on the Mayflower in 1620 and married Elizabeth Tilley in 1624. John Chipman (1620-1708) from Bryants's Puddle, Dorset Co, England came to America aboard the ship Friendship, he arrived in Boston, Massachuseets Jul 14, 1631. John Chipman married Hope Howland in 1647. My Grandmother was Linnie V Chipman (1912-1985) she married Johnie Fewel Smith (1910-1961) and had a child named Carolyn Ann Smith (1941), which is my Mother. This site has over 1700 names, 400 marriages and hundreds of photos. There is also a lot of notes on my ancestors. There is some info on the Howlands and Tilleys at the website. The Tilley family that I have go's back to Henry Tilley (1465), the Chipman family to Thomas Chipman (1567), Howland family to Henry Howland (abt. 1600) and the Fewell Family to Henery Fewell (abt. 1722). I also have my step fathers Robert Dean Culpeper's family to (abt. 1170). There was a lot of royalty and a Thomas Culpeper (abt. 1500) that was a lover of Henry VIII's 5th wife, Catherine Howard. He was beheaded on 10 Nov 1542.
