Frank Eric Anderson (1928-1992) is the son of Anthony Anderson and Julia Mathews. Anthony (1865-1953) was a Buffalo Soldier in Co. M, 24th Infantry and participated in the Spanish American War. He spent 30 years in the U.S. Army before returning home to Crew, Va. around 1917 and then marrying Julia Mathews (1893-1966). Julia had previously been married to William Jennings. Both Julia and Anthony had land in the Jennings Ordinary section of Nottoway. Part of this land is still in the family. Louise Gwendolyn DeLaney (1931- ) was the daughter of Robert Scott and Ruby Delmore Delaney of Natural Bridge, Va. Gwen is an heir of painters Beauford and Joseph Delaney from Knoxville, Tn. Another great uncle, Hubert Delaney, is said to be the first Black Federal Judge, but we haven't been able to confirm this. Gwen claimes kinship to the two Delaney sisters who recently pased away - both over 100 years old. Together, Frank and Gwen have 9 children - who wish to trace and expand their roots. I'm hoping to find more information about Anthony's military time as well as more information about Hubert Delaney. I'm willing to share all Family History as long as the living principals permit their info to be passed-on. Feel free to contact me via e-mail at any time. |
