SUBJECTS OF INTEREST

The BICKEL family of Massenbach, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Johannes Pauli Bickel, born July 18, 1618, died, in Massenbach, on June 26, 1706. His descendant Georg Wilhelm Bickel, born August 28, 1802, landed in New York, NY, on the Barque Paoli, on July 5, 1838. The family settled in Hocking County, OH.

The Dörr and Schmalzhaf families also came from Massenbach.

Samuel WYCKOFF, born c. 1776. He lived for many years in Greene Co., PA. In the late 1820's he moved to what is now Beaver Twp., Noble Co., OH. Then in 1837, he moved to Hocking Co., OH. Family tradition states that he married an Indian woman named Saynay. At the time of his death, in 1843, he was married to a woman named Catherine.
