MRS. MARTIN ANDERSON Funeral services for Mrs. Martin Anderson, whose death we briefly mentioned last week, took place here on Monday forenoon at the home with Rev H. H. McLeod of the Presbyterian Church officiating. The children, four in number, were all present, but the husband and father, M. Anderson, was unable to be present, due to contracting pneumonia shortly after the death of his wife. He was taken to the Willmar hospital last Friday. His critical illness makes it especially sad. Mrs Anderson, whose maiden name was Annie Rose Miller, was born at Newbourg, Wis. Nov. 19, 1859, and passed away in Atwater Dec. 9, 1937. She removed from her birthplace to Audubon, Minn., in 1885, and on July 19, 1887, was married to Martin Anderson of Audubon. They made their home there until 1904, when they came to Atwater. They remained here until 1914 when they removed to Willmar and resided until 1925, when they returned to their home here and continued to remain. Four children were born to Mr and Mrs Anderson, namely, Hilda (Mrs Lyle Anderson), Fannie ( Mrs F.E. de Malignon), both of Minneapolis, and Robert Anderson of Willmar and Arthur Anderson of Mankato. There are eleven grandchildren including Mrs Mozelle Anderson of Atwater, who has always been near and dear to the grandparents near whom she has been close by all her life. There is also a brother, Conrad Miller of Audubon, and two sisters, Mrs. Ole Olson of Drake, N.D. and Mrs. H. Chadbourne of Detroit Lakes, Minn. Who are left to mourn her death. Mrs. Anderson was of a quiet nature and her life was devoted to her home and family who will all greatly miss her, as will the many friends who grieve her departure. THE WILLMAR DAILY TRIBUNE: Martin Anderson Martin Anderson, who had been confined in the Willmar Hospital since December 10, passed away at five o'clock Wednesday morning. Pneumonia and complications caused his death. Mr. Anderson became ill at the time of his wife's death and was unable to attend the funeral and was taken to the hospital the day following her passing. Mr. Anderson was born in Christiania, Oslo, Norway August 14, 1867, and at the age of 14 years came to this country with his parents The family located at Audubon, Minnesota. He was married July 19, 1887, to Annie Rose Miller at Audubon. They made their home at that place until 1900 when they removed to Florida. In 1904 they came to Atwater and resided here until 1914. From 1914 until 1925 the family resided at several places, including Thief River Falls and Willmar. Returning here in 1925 the family made this their home up to the present time. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, and all survive. They are Hilda (Mrs. L. H. Anderson), and Fannie (Mrs. F.E. de Malignon), of Minneapolis, Robert of Willmar and Arthur of Mankato. Eleven grandchildren also mourn his passing. Miss Mozelle Anderson of this village is one of the granddaughters. One brother is believed to be in Norway. Mr. Anderson was very well known in business circles of the country for many years. He had been in the hardware business here for a time previous to his removal to Willmar and while in the city of Willmar he was in the elevator business. He was energetic and always occupied at some gainful business. His recent illness, together with the shock of the death of his wife, withdrew from him more strength than he was able to survive and he passed on only a short time following the departure of his helpmate. The children grew to young manhood and womanhood in Atwater and their many friends here extend to them their deepest sympathy in their recent loss of both mother and father. -Atwater Press.
