OBITUARY OF THE LATE A. C. BRECKE Albert C. Brecke Laid to Rest at Burial June 24th in Lutheran Free Church Cemetery Burial rites for the late A. C. Brecke of Willmar Township, who passed away Saturday, June 21st , were held on Tuesday of last week at the Lutheran Free church. Rev. Nicolay Nilsen officiated. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. He was known as a kind and loving father and friend to all. Services were held at the home at 2:30 o'clock and a half hour later at the church. Pallbearers were Mr. Charles Harrison, S. Paulsness, Willie Peterson, G. Bratberg of Eagle Lake and A. Halvorson of Willmar. Albert Christian Brecke was born October 2, 1868, at Kopervik, Norway. Here he spent his youth until twenty-one years of age. He received a common school education. In 1886 he came to America and located in the state of Iowa. Here he became united in marriage to Ella Peterson in April, 1890, at Marion, Iowa. To them were born ten children of whom seven are living. These are Mrs. J. T. Langager of this city; Mrs. Arthur I. Anderson, south of Willmar; Mrs. Herbert Forstrom of east of Willmar, and Albert, Stella, Edward and Norman at the home northeast of Willmar. The family resided for twelve years in Iowa. He made a journey back to Norway, where he stayed for two years. Upon his return, the family made their home at Cumberland, Wisconsin. Here they made their home for a period of ten years, coming to Willmar in 1911. He engaged in farming in Wisconsin and also in this country, where he worked a farm in Willmar township. Last year he sold out, due to ill health. Six grandchildren also survive. The parents are deceased. Five brothers live at Kopervik, Norway and two sisters and one brother at Marshalltown, Iowa. The departed has been ailing for about a year and a half and was confined to bed for six weeks with cancer of the stomach. Death came to relieve his suffering on June 21st. A LOVING MOTHER LAID TO REST Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Brecke were held on July 9 at the Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. C. G. Olson officiating. Mrs. H. P. Hansen presided at the organ. and accompanied Mrs. Thomas Sand, who sang two of the favorite hymns of the deceased, "The Pearly Gates" in Norwegian and "Halleujah, I have a friend". Interment was in the Calvary cemetery, where she was laid to rest by three grandchildren, Merle Anderson of Mankato, Marlin Forstrom of Willmar and Darrell Brecke of Spicer, and three sons-in-law, Arthur Anderson of Mankato, Herbert Forstrom and Joseph Otterness of Willmar. Ella Peterson Brecke was born February 27, 1867 at Stavanger, Norway. She spent the first twenty years of her life in that country, attending school in Stavanger. At the age of twenty she came to the United States and resided at Norway, Iowa, for ten years. Then she went back to Stavanger for two years. Coming back to this country she lived at Cumberland, Wisconsin, for ten years. In 1911 she came to Minnesota and here she resided for the balance of her life. She was married in 1890 at Norway Ia., to Albert Brecke. Her husband preceded her in death in 1924. Mrs. Brecke was blessed with ten children, three of whom preceded her in death in infancy. The surviving children are Inga, who is Mrs. J. T. Langager of Longview, Washington; Margaret, who is Mrs. Herbert Forstrom of Willmar; Clara, who is Mrs. Arthur Anderson of Mankato; Albert of Aurora, Illinois; Stella, who is Mrs. Joseph Otterness of Willmar; Edward of Spicer and Norman of Rochester. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Langager of Longview, who was unable to attend because of illness. A niece and nephew at Norway Iowa, also survive. Mrs. Brecke resided at 213 Becker Avenue, West in Willmar. She was a kind and loving mother; a woman of true christian faith, having received Christ as her personal saviour in her early youth.
