Ji. Perry (son of James Harrison Perry and Myrtle Violet Bagwell) was born February 28, 1919 in Lipan, Texas, and died August 24, 1944 in On mission over Weimar Germany.
Notes for Ji. Perry: I am interested in JI Perry. He flew on the same plane as my brother. After 58 years, I am trying to search out the families. If you have any info about JI or pictures of the crew, I would be interested in that. My brother was the youngest of the crew and I don't think they found any of the crew. The plane was "Tis Me Sugar" and flew the last mission over Weimer, Germany 8-24-1944. My brother was Elbert Q Allen and I am his sister,Nola Allen Keyton
Mission Narrative Mission No. 112 Date - August 24, 1944 Target - Weimar The target for the 457th on this date was manufacturing facilities about five miles west of Weimar, Germany which was believed to be making V-2 rocket bombs. A nearby barracks of the Gestapo wasalso a target. The group put up 36 planes. One plane, s/n 42-09755, left the formation and was not seen again. Over the target another plane, s/n 42-97571, was hit by flak and lost and four others were badly damaged. The target was clearly visible as the squadrons bombed in trail. The target was left a smoking, burning ruin. No fighers nor flak were encountered on the way home. This plane s/n 42-97558, named "Tis Me Sugar," and piloted by Lt Teddy G Shaw, left the formation with no apparent problem. One report says that there were no fighters or flak and the plane simply left the formation and was not seen again. Another reports that he was hit by a lone jet fighter plane, lost two engines, went into a spin and later exploded at a lower altitude.
